New independent analysis conducted by NYU’s Institute of Education and Social Policy (IESP) finds that schools led by APP graduates typically improve student performance in English language arts (ELA) and math at a higher rate than schools led by similarly-tenured principals in comparable schools. According to this new analysis, after standardizing for citywide performance trends and controlling for differences in initial school and student characteristics, schools led by APP graduates cut the initial ELA performance gap between their schools and comparison schools in half, and virtually eliminated the math performance gap between their schools and comparison schools in years three and beyond click here to see IESP’s memorandum about the findings.
