NYC Leadership Academy graduate Shimon Waronker, Principal of the New American Academy in Crown Heights, is featured in a recent NY Times op-ed piece on The Academy. The article describes the Waronker’s non-traditional path to founding his school.
After revitalizing one of the most violent junior high schools in the South Bronx, Waronker went on to found The New American Academy with backing of both Klein and Randi Weingarten, the president of the teachers’ union.
