Education Leaders of Color (EdLoC) announced The Leadership Academy’s Lead Executive Officer Nancy Gutiérrez as the organization’s new Chair of the Board of Directors beginning in 2024. EdLoC harnesses the power of its membership network to ensure young people of color have the opportunities to build generational wealth and thrive. The organization leverages multi-faceted, multi-racial, and multi-sector approaches to dismantle the barriers to academic and economic advancement.
“EdLoC has been a place where I’ve been able to find my people, so it is an honor to now assume the role of Board Chair,” said Gutiérrez, who has been a member of the organization’s board since 2019. “Their dedication to high-quality education as a key to economic advancement aligns with The Leadership Academy’s vision of a nation where every school and school system is intentionally built to ensure every child has what they need to achieve academic, social, and emotional success.”
“We know firsthand how important it is to have representation and leadership who look like us,” said Sharhonda Bossier, EdLoC’s CEO. “I am deeply honored to be able to benefit from the invaluable guidance and diverse perspectives of our Board Members.”
Said Gutiérrez, “I’m looking forward to working with EdLoC’s dedicated board to support Sharhonda and the EdLoC Leadership Committee in continuing to foster collaboration, drive change, and ensure that our collective efforts help build the future our children and leaders of color deserve.”
Gutiérrez was formally introduced to the EdLoC community during a networking reception in New York City on February 7th.
