In an article featured in the American School Board Journal, The Leadership Academy Chief Access & Equity Officer Mary Rice-Boothe, Ed. D. describes using data to drive a system-level approach in addressing equity issues–highlighting some of the work we have done with Des Moines Public Schools. She writes:
“This work has to be at the system level. You have to engage everyone, from the board all the way through the leadership through your staff and community, for the work to happen. You can’t stop at training or coaching. You must look deeply at the policies and practices that are pushing up against what you are trying to do. That’s the hard work and it’s slow, but it does pay off.”
